The Coolangatta Sands Hotel is an historic landmark situated in the heart of Coolangatta and only 100 meters from the nearest surfing beach. Part of the Taphouse Hotel Group, the Coolangatta Sands Hotel underwent a major multi million dollar refurbishment in 2006 transforming it into a contemporary hotel, bistro and lounge bar with great modern amenities but an historic personality and charm perfect for any type of function or event be it a birthday party, high tea, engagement party, wedding, corporate training event, Christmas party, or product launch. If you have the imagination, we have the locale, food, and even the entertainment.

The hotel has the capacity to host a group of 300 people and offers a variety of function options from a set menu to alternate drop seated meals, share plates and platters, buffet, pizza, canapé and carving stations. There is a package that is just right for your event. You can choose to run a bar tab, have bar runners, drinks by consumption or have a four hour standard beverage package. We can customize your event however you need it to run.

The hotel offers two bars. The Sand Bar can host up 250 people for a cocktail style party and 100 people for a sit down meal and event. The completely refurbished bar has private booths, a separate private entrance for your guests, bar, in-house music system, cordless mic, a projector and screen, and even a stage for a band or DJ.

In the Laneway bar there is a private laneway with pallet tables, keg stools, fairylights, pop-up bar, stage, ipod facilities and in house music system. Like the Sands bar there are private booths, a variety or amenities and a private entrance along with a cordless mic, projector and screen and stage.

There are many food options for your event. You can choose from a variety of platters from bread and dip to canapés, pizza platters or hot platters of seafood, chicken and vegetables. For sit down meals you can choose from Chicken breast, crispy skin salmon, scotch fillet, pan seard snapper or twice baked pork belly.

High teas include a variety of savory sandwiches, sweet cakes and scones with jam and cream along with tea and coffee.

If you have a smaller group the Sands Hotel also offers a non-eclusive shared venue option where your event can be seated in a sectioned off area in the sandbar with other groups. This option works on a per head spend only. Entertainment is allowed and wristbands can be used for bar tabs. It is a convenient and economical way to host a smaller group.

You can choose to have your own entertainment or enjoy free live music Thursday through Sunday. Whatever you choose to do you can be assured that the atmosphere will be friendly and fun.

When you decide to have your event at the Coolangatta Hotel you can rest assured it will be a safe and worry free event. We offer security as well as a 10 person shuttle bus to get your guests safely to and from the Hotel. Just call ahead to arrange transportation for your group.
