Emulsion styrene butadiene styrene (ESB) is one of the widely used industrial chemicals, worldwide due to its exceptional combination of advantages and cost-effectiveness.

This makes its extensive used in different applications including hoses, sealants, adhesives and sealing products, automobile tires, rubber gaskets, and more. The Emulsion Styrene Butadiene Rubber or more commonly known as E-SB is widely preferred because of its versatility. The main advantage of E-SB is that it is safe for use even with harsh working conditions and materials. It can be used even at low temperatures. This makes it the best choice for industrial purposes such as manufacturing of hoses for water heaters, tanks for chemical reactions, and so on. These types of products are known to function well even under adverse chemical conditions.
High demand for the product from the automotive industry where it is used in the production of tires is driving the market growth. Thus increasing production of automobiles are fueling demand for emulsion styrene butadiene styrene. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, 92.8 million motor vehicles were produced globally in 2019 and more than 80 million passenger cars were produced around the world in 2017. The growing use of emulsion styrene butadiene elastomer in the manufacturing of insoles, cutting boards, and heals in the footwear industry is again propelling the market growth over the forecast period.
On the other hand, the volatile price of raw material used in the production of emulsion styrene-butadiene-styrene hampers the demand and supply. This factor is projected to restraints market growth over the forecast period.
From the geographical point of view, the Asia Pacific is expected to gain significant growth over the forecast period and this is attributed to growing spending on construction activities in the region. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation, India plans to spend US$ 1.4 trillion on infrastructure projects through the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP), from 2019 to 2023, to ensure sustainable development in the country.
Key Developments:
1. In March 2018, JSR Corporation and MOL Group inaugurated a new synthetic rubber manufacturing plant in Hungary. This plant will produce 60,000 tons of solution SBR annually for the automotive, packaging, and construction industries.
2. In March 2018, Trinseo, a global materials solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders, and synthetic rubber, launched its new pilot plant and solution-styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) capacity expansion at Schkopau, Germany.
