Is Syrup Agave a Good Sugar Substitute For Diabetics?

This sweetener is produced from the blue agave plant that flourishes in volcanic soils of Southern Mexico. It is a large plant, with prickly thorns that resembles a cactus, but it is categorize in the succulent family of the Aloe Vera plants. The agave and the Aloe Vera plant are similar because both of its cores is used for a remedy concerning the body.

It was first used and became available centuries ago and first used in Mexico. The Aztecs used its liquid that was redeveloped from the core of the plant as a sweetener for foods and drinks. Agave is basically known for the plant from which the famous drink tequila is made from for consumption.When looking at this sweetener immediately you would observe that the color is the same as honey. You would also notice that the texture is the same. However the taste is different, it has been said that many who do not like the taste of honey would better prefer the taste of syrup agave. Its taste is similar to cane sugar and pairs well with any hot or cold beverage. Finally it dissolves easily and has no bitter or intense after taste as do many other sweeteners.
