[Toledo, OH. October 19, 2020] – Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers is happy to announced that there will now be a broader line of cancer care services available to patients starting in November as we open a new medical oncology clinic to help provide well-rounded treatment options and services to our patients.

At CHWC, we care adding medical oncology services to the cancer care program alongside the long-established radiation oncology program. The new services that will be provided are to include immunotherapy, hormone therapy, chemotherapy and more that will allow patients to receive all treatments in one place.

Along with this new addition, we are welcoming two new providers to our CHWC cancer care team. The first is our new medical oncologist, Dr. Divya Vijendra. Dr. Vijendra is board certified in medical oncology and attended Bangalore Medical College in India. She completed both her internship and residency at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Michigan. Most recently, she finished a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Toledo.

We are also welcoming Lisa Scanlon, a certified nurse practitioner who will be working alongside radiation oncologist Dr. Wainwright Jaggernauth. Together, they will be providing comprehensive cancer care here at CHWC, so all of our patients can get the care they need in one place. Lisa Scanlon specializes in medical hematology oncology and has extensive experience in assessing, diagnosing, supervising, planning and evaluating oncology treatments for her patients. She completed a Master of Science in Nursing in Adult Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at Case Western Reserve University and Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland. She has been working in the field for over 20 years.

The new medical oncology clinic will open on November 16, 2020. We hope to welcome patients and their families at that time and are currently accepting appointments.

Our cancer care services are available at Bryan Hospital and includes a team of board-certified surgeons, radiologists, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, and oncology-certified nurses. We also have a team of pharmacists, therapists, dentists and social workers prepared to help our patients learn about treatment options, obtain cancer education, get referrals or seek additional care.
