Chinderah Tavern, a part of the Taphouse Hotel Group since 2006 is an old iconic New South Wales hotel that has undergone extensive renovations and continues to be upgraded to provide families, locals and visitors a great venue for all types of different functions. Located at 156 Chinderah Bay Drive, Chinderah, NSW 2487 the tavern has long been a popular place for a meal out or a party.


“The Chindy”, as it is known to locals, is located opposite to the Tweed River and now offers a large, new deck covered with shed and a secure kid’s playground. It offers a family eating place or a place to celebrate a special event like a birthday. Enjoy the river views and gorgeous sunsets from the deck. You and your family might even get peeks of some dolphins.


The Chindy is pleased to announce an addition to our restaurant and bar for your family functions. The Chindy has chosen to team up with Busy Nippers Activity Packs to provide fun, engaging activities for your children while they wait for food, if he weather isn’t so good for outdoor play in the play area or while you enjoy some drinks on the deck. We want your kids to enjoy coming to the Chindy as much as their parents.

We offer a fantastic range of different family functions that utilize the deck and playground area. Talk with one of our staff members about your next kids event. We will help you plan out everything from food to activities. We can suggest different types of entertainment or you can offer your own ideas. You can choose to host a BBQ party, have a buffet, shared plates or even alternate drop-seated meals and we even have a special kids menu for younger nippers. We work with you to organize an event that your kids and all their friends will love. We can even take care of their parents. From drinks on the deck to an afternoon or evening of music we keep the party going for everyone.


The Chindy is open 11:30-2:30 pm Monday through Sunday for lunch and 5:30 -8:30pm Monday through Sunday for dinner. Breakfast is served on Sundays beginning at 9am.


One of the extra benefits the Chindy offers is a courtesy bus that runs from Banora Point south to Cabarita Beach every Friday and Saturday night and on Sundays from 11am NSW time.
