Lancashire, United Kingdom, (14th March, 2012) – Pall Mall Medical, a private healthcare facility based in Manchester, is now offering a vaccine for the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) to all men and women aged 19-26.

The HPV vaccine prevents the onset of genital warts caused by two strains of HPV – 6 and 11. The Gardasil vaccine, as recommended and provided by Pall Mall Medical, targets these two and two other strains. It was approved for the prevention of anal cancer by the FDA in 2010.

Though this vaccination is not currently available to any males on the NHS, it is now available from Pall Mall Medical in Manchester.

A spokesperson for Pall Mall Medical said: “Much of the information about HPV virus concentrates on the effects on women and its prevention. Girls and young women are all now offered a vaccine that protects against HPV infection and which hopefully reduces their risk of cancer of the cervix associated with the virus.

“However, men can have health problems from HPV too, and it’s important that men are made aware of the risks, and of how to reduce infection and the possible consequences. If you require more information on this vaccination or have any concerns, please contact your GP or Pall Mall Medical.”
