BRITISH STANDARD CUPBOARDS, the online kitchen company specialising in handmade, supply only kitchens, has launched its e-commerce website.

Created by award-winning designer Frith Kerr of Studio Frith, the site directs customers through the DIY process of planning, ordering, collecting and installing a BRITISH STANDARD kitchen,with help from a series of comprehensive step-by-step guides and practical online design tools.

Printable versions of gridded paper and individual cupboard cut-outs, are available to help customers plan their kitchen to scale, and experiment with possible layouts before making a purchase; fitting instructions tailored to specific products such as oven housing, can be downloaded to assist individuals during the installation stages.

“It was a longer process than we had initially hoped, but given the concept of the company, the site needed to be thorough and thoroughness takes time. The appeal of the website goes beyond its practicality. Quirky image animations, and beautiful photography of old-fashioned building tools and drawing equipment, make the site entertaining to use, and echoes the ‘back to basics’ concept and style of BRITISH STANDARD’s kitchen cupboard collection.

About British Standard:

BRITISH STANDARD has a range of 40 standard-sized cupboards, available in one design and colour (‘Broken White’). If an alternative colour is required, customers can repaint the cupboards themselves. Ironmongery is not included and customers have to plan and purchase their kitchens on the BRITISH STANDARD website. Collection and fitting of the cupboards is the responsibility of the customer. The BRITISH STANDARD range includes floor cupboards, tall cupboards, worktops & upstands for kitchens and examples can be seen at their London showroom.
