Brian Sullivan is the President of Precision Global Corporation in Dallas, an oil and gas company he formed in the spring of 2014 after moving from Colorado to Texas. The company owns 34% of an assisted living & memory care community in Florida and the working interest in an oil field in Archer County in the north central part of the state.

“17 wells have been drilled so far in our Archer County Field,” he said. “All of them are successful.” The company has plans to drill many more wells, and its future is looking good.

“Our wells are being drilled in a proven field with many successful wells around us, therefore the risk we feel is greatly reduced,” Brian Sullivan said. “I work with the best in the industry to assure the job is done right.”

Like most of the oil and gas industry, Texas petroleum has been struggling, according to the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, which tracks the industry’s performance across the state. NYMEX Crude oil futures settle price was $38.34 at the end of March 2016, while NYMEX natural gas futures reached a settle price of $1.9590. The Texas prices are slightly above the national average.

“My objective is to increase a client’s portfolio as safe as possible, given the industry,” says Brian Sullivan. “Oil and Gas has inherent risks, but if done right, one can safely create a portfolio that has a better than average return.”

He illustrates this point with a baseball analogy. “I was taught long ago by my baseball coach that four base hits are the same as a home run. The one with the most home runs, always has the most strike outs. I look at a potential project the same as I played ball – look for a better than average chance to get on base.”

Swinging for the fences is risky, he says, and if you don’t succeed, it just might cost you the game. “My philosophy is to play it as safe as possible. Because of this philosophy, I have controlled twenty projects in the last nine years. Seventeen out of the twenty have been successful.”

For Brian Sullivan Colorado, success in the oil industry follows an earlier success. He retired from the lending industry at the age of forty and moved to Colorado, where he first got into petroleum. He worked for several other oil and gas companies before forming Precision Global.
