Piercing: piercing creates a hole in the specific region of the body like ear, nose, chin, lips, nipples, tongue, eyebrows, etc.

Piercing smells bad if the area gets infected or sometimes even without any infection. Our skin emits oil called sebum; when this oil mixes up with the dead cells present on the piercing site results in the buildup, then this buildup gives a suitable environment for bacteria to grow and result in a bad odor. It is very common to smell after piercing because of the mixing of sebum oil with bacteria, but there are other reasons.
Jewelry type is the other reason for the smell, and if we wear studs, it doesn't allow the skin to breathe properly, which means there's also the likelihood of bacterial growth. Dead cells from the pierced holes get detained in the studs allow bacteria to thrive more which causes a nasty smell.
Some people are allergic to metallic jewelry, which also leads to infection, and one may feel an awful smell. Pierced holes start smelling when they are about to heal, and it is also due to the accumulation of dead cells.
How can we minimize the smell?
We can minimize the smell by cleaning our pierced site daily. We can wash it with warm water and wipe off the bacteria by using anti-bacterial wipes. Clean the pierced hole and pierced site by using saline solutions. Removal of dead cells is important because dead cells give a great thrive to bacteria.
Use earrings, nose rings, nipple rings instead of studs. The ring can be moved freely in holes, allowing the skin to breathe and underrate the bacterial growth.

At the time of piercing, we should wear earrings and nose rings, etc., but once one gets healed, we can use any jewelry of our choice. People who are allergic to metallic jewelry should avoid it. They can use silver or gold jewelry. The pierced site must be cleaned daily after a few days of piercing, but once we get healed, we have to clean after one day.
Cleaning of the pierced site along with jewelry will be favorable. Clean the jewelry by taking it off and dip it in an anti-bacterial solution. If we get sweats a lot, we have to take off jewelry before any workout and then wear it after proper cleaning.
