The New Year is approaching. After some joyful Christmas days filled with good food and family visits,
we say goodbye to 2017. Some of you might feel tired or exhausted, especially if the past days were
busy for you. Definitely, we are looking forward to making some changes next year and getting into
shape again. Do you have any New Year resolutions?
Here is what you need to do to become fit in 2018:
1. Get hydrated!
The more you drink the better. This surely does not include alcoholic or sweet drinks. Water, water
water. Start in the early morning. When you wake up, prepare 1 L of warm water and drink it on an
empty stomach. This cleans your intestines, stomach and flushes out toxins. You will be surprised
how fresh you can feel in the morning.
2. Change your diet
Easy to say but hard to do? The key is to not change everything in one day. Start by cutting out
excess sugar, oils, and processed foods. Snack on raw veggies and fruits when you feel hungry in
between meals. Replace your pasta and bread with rice and non-yeast alternatives. Slightly cooked
vegetables provide nourishing meals and are light in calories. Don’t think about food too much. Eat
when you are hungry and don’t make much fuzz about it.
3. Fresh air every day
If you are living in a country where it’s been cold over winter, you might be familiar with radiators
(heaters) in your home. Radiators are great to feel warm but the disadvantage is that the oxygen
inside won’t be as good anymore. Less humidity and bad air circulation can influence our mood and
make us feel lazy and depressed. Open your window every day and put a bowl with water on the
radiator to increase humidity. Go outside and walk! 5km every day should be the minimum.
4. Regular Movement
Yoga should have a fixed time in your daily schedule. Through regular yoga practice, you get to
balance your whole body and mind. You will feel more aware of your body and can listen to its
needs. While in different sports, the focus is on one or two body parts only (Jogging & Gym), yoga
will make you feel each and every muscle of your body. As you integrate your body with your mind,
you will feel more relaxed and calm.
5. Build strong Relationships and remove negative energies
We all know people in our lives who are constantly pulling us down. As you begin your New Year, try
to remove toxic energies from your life and focus on building strong relationships with people who
inspire and motivate you. There shouldn’t be any space for complaints and negativity.
