What is Paragliding?

Paragliding can be defined as the sport of gliding with a parachute. In most cases this is performed by jumping from an airplane or a stationary structure that is very tall…think cliffs, buildings or bridges here.

Paragliding can be defined as the sport of gliding with a parachute. In most cases this is performed by jumping from an airplane or a stationary structure that is very tall…think cliffs, buildings or bridges here. The parachute involved is generally shaped like a rectangle and has cords or other mechanisms that allow the person using it to control the direction it takes.

Los Angeles

Paragliding is one of the many amazing things to do with kids in Los Angeles. Many times kids can get bored with the stuff that parents are into such as shopping and sightseeing. Paragliding is perfect for those kids who have a lot of energy and are not afraid of heights. Honestly, when you are looking for things to do with kids in Los Angeles, this is just one of the options that you have. There are also beaches, amusement parks, zoos and more but paragliding is an experience that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

D.C.

Let’s talk about D.C. for a minute. D.C. is an awesome place. It is filled with landmarks and intrigue. There are bars there that are more than 200 years old over by Georgetown. There are parks, subways and D.C. even has its own Chinatown…but that is something not too many people outside of the area know about. Yes, D.C. can be an educational place, but what about the kids? Are they all that interested in seeing the Mayflower hotel where Bill and Monica “didn’t do anything”?

What are some things to do with kids in D.C.? You can take them to see the monuments, but unless you are a history buff, they are all that. Believe it or not, paragliding happens to be one of the things that you can do with kids in D.C. This is better than going to the Smithsonian or Arlington (outside of D.C. but still an attraction), although both bear going to.

This is even better than the National Geographic Museum right across the street from the Mayflower! Paragliding over D.C. would allow you to see how the city is laid out. D.C. was designed to be different from most other cities and many say that it had a lot to do with the Masons.

However, while you won’t see any paragliders over D.C. itself (national security issues), right outside of D.C. there are a great many places where you can enjoy this thrilling yet ironically restful and peaceful activity.

Conclusion

Not too many parents are too keen on the thought of their small children going paragliding. Older children can handle it though. For the small ones, there is a web site that you can go to that has childrens' books about paragliding and will teach them what they need to know for when they are big enough to go. To find it simply search for paragliding for kids.

For everyone else, larger cities will have paragliding excursions that you can book when you are in the area.
