Puerto Peñasco is a beach city in the northwestern corner of the state of Sonora in Mexico on the
shores of the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California), about 70 miles south of the Arizona's border.
Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point, is one of the fastest growing tourist centers of northern
Mexico; from 1995 to 2020, the population grew from 27,000 to 63,000, which includes many
American and Canadian expats.
Puerto Peñasco has become more popular with the southwest states as an alternative to the more
popular and expensive Cancun. The opportunity to expose the great beaches, food, and activities
with a poll came when creator Michael Antonio began asking where authentic Mexican food was.
Since most people go online to do research for their vacations and the platform The Best of Puerto
Peñasco aims to ask for local residents and visitors to the area to help with reviews and insights for
future visitors. With the poll, many smaller local businesses, may benefit from the growth in tourism
by getting much needed exposure.
Submissions and votes will be taken until March 3, 2023 (unofficial start to spring break) at which
time finalist will be announced. Winners will be announced in late April.
