SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 046.24 to provide stakeholders with a summary of the updates made to China’s national product standard for medical use disposable protective clothing.

Issued on November 27, 2023, as part of China’s No. 12 announcement on approved national standards in 2023 by the Standardization Administration of China, GB 19082-2023 applies to disposable protective clothing worn by personnel in medical institutions during medical and disease prevention and control work. These items offer protection from potential exposure risks associated with infectious blood, body fluids, secretions, particulate matter in the air, etc.

The standard contains requirements relating to material performance, design and size, as well as marking, packaging, transportation and storage.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 046.24 contains a summary of the main technical contents in GB 19082-2023, as well as details of the revisions, additions and deletions made in the new standard.

GB 19082-2023 will come into effect on December 1, 2025, replacing the previous iteration – GB 19082-2009.
