When it comes to reducing pipes, you may not know what they are, but when it comes to reducing pipes, some of you should know what they are. The reducer is the big and small heads, and is divided into concentric and eccentric heads. A reducer is a pipe connection, also known as a transition pipe, reducer or reducer, used to connect two pipes or fittings of different diameters. It has the characteristic that the diameter of one port is different from the diameter of the other port, and is used to achieve the transition or change of diameter in the piping system. Reducers are widely used in industry, construction, chemical industry, petroleum, natural gas and other fields。
Currently, the commonly used forming processes are reducing diameter pressing, expanding diameter pressing, or reducing diameter and expanding diameter pressing. Some specifications of reducers can also be formed by stamping.
Diameter reduction/diameter expansion forming
Reducing forming is to put a tube blank with the same diameter as the large end of the reducer into the forming mold, and then apply pressure to the tube blank in the axial direction, so that the metal moves along the mold cavity and shrinks to form. According to the size of the reducer, it can be divided into one-time pressing molding or multiple pressing molding.
Diameter expansion forming uses a tube blank smaller than the diameter of the large end of the reducer, and then uses an inner punch to expand the diameter along the inner diameter of the tube blank. Expansion molding is prone to the situation that a reducer with a larger diameter cannot be easily formed by diameter reduction. Therefore, sometimes it is necessary to combine diameter expansion and reduction according to the needs of materials and product forming.
In the process of diameter reduction and diameter expansion deformation and pressing, it is necessary to choose hot pressing or cold pressing according to different materials and required diameter reduction conditions. But usually the cold pressing method is chosen. When severe work hardening caused by multiple diameter changes, the wall thickness is too thick, or the alloy materials used, hot pressing is still suitable.
