There are many companies the need queue management but not all. The process is needed mostly by companies that have a vast customer base and long processing time for customers. The perfect example of this type of company is a bank. Have you ever visited a well know bank and there were no customers waiting in line? You would have to be very lucky for that to happen. Most well-known banks are processing a significant number of customer daily all day. The question has been asked on many occasion, “why it takes so long to get processed when you visit this bank?” the truth is that they have not found the perfect queue management solution to rectify this situation. Banks have implemented strategies to aid in the solution of this problem, but they have not found the perfect solution as yet.

Banks are not the only businesses the see this problem. Most successful financial institutions also experience customers waiting in line. It is a sign that the company is successful, but it is also a sign that the company has not found the perfect strategies to deal with the buildup of customers in line in their business. Businesses such as supermarkets and superstores face this problem but not daily and not all day. Other stores experience this phenomenon but only when the release a new product that the public has been anticipating. This include stores that sell electronics and in some cases music. A company that sells games and mobile phones will experience the customer build up, but they don’t necessarily need queue management seeing as how they really experiences this at specific times.

Another set of companies that may experience a build up of customers are fast food restaurants. A regular restaurant combats this by making reservations. Fast food restaurant is another business that will experience a build up of customers. It might not be as sever as a bank and not as frequent, but they too must implement strategies for this build up. Fast food restaurants have come the closest to solving this problem with the implementations of the drive through. The invention of the drive through was an innovative strategy created by the fast food restaurants to aid in queue management. This strategy has been used by some financial institutions but some how it has not been as successful for them. Every business that offer product sales will see their share of customer build up if they are successful. Not every company will need to design queue management strategies. Some business will never have to worry about queue management thanks to the services and type of product they offer. The truth is some companies will never be rid of customer waiting in line no matter the strategies they implement to combat the buildup of customers in their business. It is a testimony of a business’s success, but it is also a problem for companies. Customers hate to wait in line and if they can conduct the same business elsewhere for less time, they will abandon your company.
