Albany, NY, United States, October 30, 2013 -- Price Chopper in cooperation with School Sports Media™, LLC announced today that it has agreed for the 2nd year in a row to sponsor the Section 2 High School Football Championships taking place at the new UAlbany Stadium.

“Price Chopper is pleased and excited to once again support the tradition of high school football in New York state, and help bring the best teams in Section 2 to the Sectional Championships. We look forward to following the teams in their bids for the state tournament,” said Pam Cerrone, Manager of Community Relations.

Participation in high school sports increased for the 24th consecutive year in 2012-13 and passed the 7.7 million mark for the first time, according to the annual High School Athletics Participation Survey conducted by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). Eleven-player football remains the top sport for boys with 1,086,627 participants in 2012-13.

"I'm thrilled with the partnership with the University of Albany for this years "AA" Super Bowl. I'm sure it will be an exciting evening and a memorable one for those who are involved in this championship event,” said Wayne Bertrand, Executive Director of Section 2.
