Kent, Ohio, August 01, 2013 -- The highly anticipated Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center opened June, 14th, 2013 and has enjoyed a successful first few weeks. The hotel has maintained a steady occupancy since opening and has sold out all rooms for Kent State University’s Homecoming weekend in September.

There has been heightened public interest in the Kent State Hotel, and tours offered by the hotel staff have been popular. During the first three weeks of being open, the hotel averaged 7 tours per day.

“We really couldn’t be more pleased about the turnout, excitement and success that these first few weeks of being open have garnered,” said Mike Riccio, General Manager of KSU Hotel. “All of our team members have really stepped up and made this hotel opening the best that it could be.”

He went on to relate a story about how the catering staff stepped up to the plate and handled what could have potentially been a disaster, when an event expecting 70 people had 92 actually show up.

“Our event and catering staff handled it in stride,” said Riccio. “I was really proud at the way they didn’t let the hitch faze them, but instead just went ahead and did what was necessary to ensure that the guests were completely satisfied. That’s just the way we do things here at the KSU Hotel.”

The hotel is located immediately adjacent to the Kent State University campus, at 215 South Depeyster Street. It features 94 rooms, consisting of King and Double Queen rooms as well as three Executive Suites and a Presidential Suite. Prices start at around $139 per night.

The onsite restaurant and lounge named Zenas and Nineteen10 respectively, feature high end cuisine and cocktails and utilize local farm-fresh produce and organic ingredients wherever possible.
