London, England, January 28, 2014 -- Learning Management Systems (LMSs)are software applications enabling educators to store course materials online; manage class discussions; assign tasks, quizzes and exams; monitor due dates; grade results and provide students with feedback all in one place. An LMS is effectively a digital class and the use of it is highly recommended for blending learning.

There are currently many LMS solutions in the market which require the educational institutions to incur substantial costs either in the form of license fees (such as Blackboard) or maintenance of servers as well as dedication of IT personnel (such as Moodle). Launched in September 2013, Easyclass gives educational institutions an alternative for their LMS requirement with the following differences:

First, Easyclass is a completely free platform. Company seems to follow in the footsteps of Facebook, Twitter, etc by focusing only on the user experience in the initial years. When the platform has millions of users, distribution of educational content will be the revenue source according to the executives of the company.

Second, Easyclass has a familiar interface which makes it a user-friendly Virtual Learning Environment. It has to be noted that users of traditional LMS solutions have to go through immense trainings to be able to grasp the functions of the respective systems.

Third, Easyclass is also a social network whereby educators can connect with each other and create groups with their peers to share educational content.

Despite the advantages proposed, it will be difficult for Easyclass to convince the educational institutions with an existing LMS to switch as the platform does not offer any integration capabilities at this stage. However, Easyclass seems to present a good opportunity especially for K12 schools which have not been able to afford an LMS hitherto. Given that there are more schools globally with no LMS solution than those with an LMS, Easyclass might have an interesting growth story ahead.
