Wan Chai, Hong Kong, December 01, 2014 -- LEmed (Learning Edge Medical Ltd.), the specialist stem cell, laser therapy, and T-cell Modulator (TCM) research and distribution group, announced today that it will be participating in the upcoming Medical Laser Therapy conference to be held in Bangkok.

A seminar on the last latest developments in Low- Level- Lasertherapy. Newly developed and CE-, FDA- and Health-Canada- approved devices from Germany deliver highly focused light from multiple lasers of different wavelengths. The use of different wavelengths (red, infrared, green, blue and yellow lasers) enables us to achieve different depths of penetration and leads to regenerative effects of great variety in tissue.

The multi-channel lasers are mainly used for treatment of pain, muscle spasm, joint osteoarthritis and spine syndromes. A high quality study about successful treatment of acute and chronic neck pain was recently published in “The Lancet”. The “Stroke” recently published big multi-center studies from the USA, revealing the enormous potential of transcranial near infrared laser light to cure the effects of a stroke.

The multiple “laser-needles” can be applied to all areas of pain or acupuncture points. Physicians appreciate this technology as a highly effective and pain-free therapy without any side-effects.

The latest and most promising technique is a special catheter technology that facilitates “interstitial” and “intra-articular” applications of lasers. In this treatment, a fiber optical needle is inserted into the tissue and the laser beam is applied in close proximity to the spot or area of injury. A new study on 40 patients with chronic and resistant pain of spinal stenosis, knee and shoulder arthritis (published in June 2011 in Germany) showed excellent results in pain relief and a huge superiority in comparison to other methods.
Furthermore, the method of intravenous laser therapy with multiple wavelengths (red, infrared, green, blue and yellow) is presented and the associated therapeutic options to strengthen general physical fitness and the immune system and to treat diabetes, chronic liver diseases, metabolism disorders, fibromyalgia, depression, CFS, cardiac diseases and other disorders are discussed.

Finally, the very promising approach of photodynamic tumor therapy by intravenous, topical or interstitial stimulation of photosensitizers will also be presented. Photodynamic therapy is one of the most interesting and promising approaches in the treatment of different cancers. The therapy is easy to perform and – in contrast to chemotherapy – normally without severe side effects. The principle is the stimulation of a light sensitive drug which is injected into the blood. Through endocytosis, the so called photosensitizer binds with high specificity to tumour cells anywhere in the body. The process takes several hours and tumour cells will have become light sensitive at its end. Tumour tissue can then be destroyed by irradiation with light of appropriate wavelength according to the absorption spectra of the various photosensitizers.
