Wan Chai, Hong Kong, November 03, 2014 -- LEmed (Leading Edge Medical Ltd.), the specialist stem cell and laser therapy research and distribution group, and T-cell Modulator (TCM) research and distribution group, announced today that it has established a third new Double Clinic for patients suffering from chronic diseases which standard medicine cannot help.

The latest and most promising of these therapies is the use of TCM® --- a proprietary immuno-regulatory product designed specifically to train and stimulate a patients own immune system in order to more efficiently and successfully deal with a wide range of health conditions.

Don Margolis, founder and chairman of Leading Edge Medical, announced today that LEmed has connected with the first stem cell + TCM clinic in the world. Regenerative Medical Institute (RMI) of Tijuana, Mexico, fully licensed by the government of Mexico, has surprised the medical world by leading the way.

Leading the RMI team is Dr. Hector Zepeda. His more than 20 years of experience in innate and adaptive immunology, as well as his experience at the Pasteur Institute and the Karolinska Institute, provided the basis for the development of this new form of therapy, from which was created and patented “T Cell Modulator” or TCM®. T Cell Modulator (TCM®) is a leukocyte extract manufactured by a proprietary methodology. Therapeutic effects of TCM have previously been demonstrated in immunologically mediated conditions, as well as oncology.

TCM® has been shown to act directly upon Toll Like Receptors, which have been shown to be an important factor in protecting stem cells in their new environment, as well as promoting their function. “In response to TLR stimulation human AD-MSCs induce the expression of manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), a key protective protein against oxidative stress in the mitochondria[14]. It has been reported that induction of MnSOD protects cells from oxidative stress leading to increased survival[15]. In the settings of an inflammatory response, immune cells release vast amounts of reactive oxygen species which results in the generation of an oxidative milieu. Based on these data we speculated that increased expression of MnSOD by MSCs in response to TLR ligand exposure would provide them with improved engraftment or survival at injured or inflamed sites, leading to enhanced therapeutic effects.

RMI now joins clinics in the Middle East and in Thailand, both using Adult Stem Cells and Laser Therapies in combination, thus bringing our count of Double Clinics to three," announced Mr. Margolis.
