Asanga Gunaratne is a program and engagement manager who has occupied many positions in numerous companies throughout his years in the professional world.

Born in New Jersey in 1973, Asanga Gunaratne excelled in high school, ranking as one of the best track athletes in the school two years in a row and earning grades impressive enough to earn him a spot at the City University of New York. He graduated from CUNY with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Wanting to continue furthering his education, Asanga attended New York University for graduate school. He received his master’s degree in telecommunications engineering.

Immediately after finishing his education at NYU, Asanga worked at the New York Stock Exchange as a senior engagement manager. He contributed both in project management and IT technical work, collaborating with peers and exercising his relentless drive to improve the network infrastructure solutions for the New York Stock Exchange.

After leaving the New York Stock Exchange, Asanga accepted a job as the global initiatives delivery manager at Credit Suisse. Though he only occupied the position for a year, he made a significant impact on the company by managing all third-party vendors, designing and implementing IT solutions, and a variety of other things.

Possibly one of the most significant projects of his career thus far was the Hewlett Packard project that Asanga spent a year on after leaving Credit Suisse. The project, the Emergency Communications Transformation Project, focused on improving the communication between the New York fire and police departments. It was created in response to the September 11, 2001, tragedy.

Later in his professional years, Asanga occupied roles at Deutsche Bank and Century Link. At Deutsche Bank, he was the senior infrastructure engagement manager and at Century Link he was the senior global engagement manager.

Currently, Asanga lives in New Jersey with his wife and two sons. He works at CIT Bank. He holds the position of the senior program manager, where he manages various infrastructure projects. He also works with line managers and senior management staff to make sure that CIT Bank’s clients are all receiving the high-quality service their contracts promised.
