Noted ophthalmologist and retinal specialist Dr Somdutt Prasad was felicitated for his services by the Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN). The felicitation took place at ACOIN Fourth District CME in Nadia district of West Bengal on 24th December 2015. The venue of the CME was Nethrajyoti Eye Hospital, Ranaghat, Nadia.

The CME was organized by Dr Pradip Mohanta, MS, (Life Member of ACOIN & Chairman of Nethrajyoti Eye Hospital) and Mr Uttam Mohanta (CEO of Nethrajyoti Eye Hospital).

Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, Retd HOD of Calcutta National Medical College inaugurated the CME and Dr Panna Lal Saha, past President of ACOIN presided over the inaugural session. Apart from 50 eye health care personnel staff of Netrajyoti Eye Hospital, 36 other participants (20 ophthalmologists & 15 ophthalmic assistants) assembled in the CME where dignitaries were received in the traditional Indian way with uttariya, fruits and flowers.

Dr Prasad shared his inputs on Diabetic Retinopathy in the CME that included all the life members of ACOIN namely:

At the end of the scientific sessions, Dr Pallav Kirtaniya, MD, addressed the audience with his views on socio-medical reform for the unreached people and exhibited his two-hour long Bengali telefilm "Megher Meye". Along with an ever-remembering hospitality, the speakers were honored with the world famous "Krishna Nagar Clay Models" as memento.
