The Grey Hat Foundation seeking sponsors to deliver 2000 library books to deserving pupils in South Africa

The Grey Hat Foundation is seeking a partnership to help deliver reading books to a well-deserving case in South Africa. The foundation is looking for a sponsor to help them deliver books which they have donated to Brookdale Primary School in South Africa. Brookdale is a rural primary school in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa with an enrolment exceeding 2,400 pupils in 2016. It is a well-deserving school as most, if not all its pupils, has never had access to reading books besides the government supplied textbooks.

The Grey Hat Foundation, a nonprofitorganisation, London Office has raised over 2000 library books for Brookdale Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

The Foundation has donated over 50,000 library books in South Africa and tonnes of educational stationery. The foundation received a request from the school seeking a book sponsorship which we acted upon and raised thousands of them.

Grade 6 Pupil, MathaboKhozawrote, “If I can get a reading book, I will develop my reading skills, read letters to my parents and be able to understand them too.”
“It is the appeal like this that made the foundation go out of its way to provide, MathaboKhoza and her school mates with materials that will transform their lives and assist their families,” said Eric Mpofu, chairperson of the foundation.

According to the school’s head teacher, the pupils are eager to read but they do not get enough reading materials. “It is common to see pupils fighting over a piece of paper because they all want to read out it out first to their peers. It is sad to run a school without reading materials because children need to develop their reading skills which are a base for many learning outcomes,” said the head teacher while appealing for assistance. A little help to take the books to these deserving pupils will go a long way in helping these children sharpen their reading skills and improve their learning,” said Maxwell Makutsi, the foundation’s country director.

“These books will change lives. They will go through at least 30,000 hands during their shelf life,” said Eric while appealing for sponsors to help the children realise their dreams.
