Every year lakhs of students sit for the JEE entrance exams. These exams that are held biannually each year already saw 8, 74,469 students sit for the exams in the first lap of the January 2019 exams. The second phase of the JEE exams have kicked off in April and the number of aspiring students has only increased.

Ever since the National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken over the supervision from the CBSE board, a lot of flexibility and options have come in for the students applying to it from all over the world. Earlier these exams were held only once a year but now they help twice a year and that too with flexible timings. There are 2-time slots that have been approved for the students. The first phase is from 9:30 am to 12:30 and the second time slot is from 2:30 to 5:30 pm.

From a whopping number of 9.4 lakh, the numbers have reached that of 1.61 crores for the April intake. To meet the requirement of the increasing numbers the numbers of centres have gone up to 470 in 267 cities, including 9 that are present abroad. Earlier these exams were held only once a year but now they help twice a year and that too with flexible timings. There are 2-time slots that have been approved for the students.

In the wake of reducing paper usage and also because of everything going online, NTA has also taken advanced steps. From now on all the papers along with JEE Mains Previous Papers will be available online and the students will have to appear online. For the April exams, the dates have been set from 8th to 12th April, with the same two-time slots. Another thing to be mindful about is the fact that only those students who clear the JEE main exams are eligible to sit for the JEE Advanced examination.

Since there are plenty of students who appear for this exam from overseas, they need to keep in mind that these timings are based on Indian Standard Timing (IST). This means that irrespective of the time zone that a student is already in if they wish to sit for the JEE exams it will be as per the IST timing.
