Someone who has been offered a job by his/her nation to work with any of the other states on matters regarding government relations is referred to as a diplomat. The diplomatic appointment is mostly made by the national government and the head of state. The diplomat is the representative of the government in whatever state he/she has been posted. The diplomat takes care of the interests of the appointing government and other relations. Most of those given diplomatic appointment are people who have previously worked with the government for a long time, or politicians who are loyal to the government. In a few instances, other people are appointed as diplomats.

All diplomatic appointment individuals are protected by an international law that was set up in the year 1961. The diplomat can be referred to as a; counselor, diplomat, envoy, minister, and ambassador. Some of the duties carried out by a diplomatic appointment individual are to ensure that the interests of the appointing state are well taken care of. The diplomat advises his/her government of any relationship matters that could have an effect on the interests of the appointing government, and also advices the sending government on the way forward. If an individual is given a diplomatic appointment, he or she should be ready to defend the sending government and negotiate any issues that need to be agreed upon by both governments, always ensuring that the interest s of his/her government are protected.

Diplomats are the bridges that connect two countries in terms of communication and international relations.Diplomats ensure that all their communications by telephone, mobile and emails are secured. This is due to the fact that the conversations may be tracked down. By securing their emails, they make sure that no communication is leaked thereby creating more personal contacts between the diplomatic appointment individual and the nation where he/she is base.
