Dayara Bugyal Trek is beauty of snow-capped mountains, sprawling meadows and a stretch of welcoming wildflower throughout the way look so beautiful. As surreal it sounds the trek to Dayara Bugyal is not less than something out of a fairy tale. Amongst all the treks, this trek is one of the most undiscovered, unexplored and untraveled treks in the Himalayas. People who want to spend their weekends relaxing and tranquilize in the lap of the Himalayas away from the hustle bustle of the city are the one belong to this journey.

‘Bugyals’ refers to the meadows in high altitude. In these ‘pasture land’ and ‘Bugyals’ shepherds from far away have been taking their flocks to graze at Dayara for hundreds of years, as treks in India are well knows so one among them is Dayara Bugyal. There is no such time as Dayara Bugyal best time for the place is beautiful throughout the year. The carpet of enthralling green grass and ravishing blossom flowers turn this destination in a paradise, the place transform colors from luxuriant green to rusty brown till November and to white in December when the surface of Bugyals looks marvelous in every step you are counting. Dayara Bugyals along with its twin Gidara Bugyals is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful alpine meadows in India. The grassland spreads to the panoramic view of the Himalayas and the sunrays striking the towering mountain ranges, majestic alpine views and a series of unending wonders on the way will keep you enchanted throughout the journey. Dayara Bugyal is not all about the alluring summers but astonish winters as well. The white blanket of snow all over the gigantic mountain ranges and green meadows turns this place into a winter wonderland.

Trek Itinerary
Day 1 : Reach Raithal
Attitude : 7,096 Ft.

Time Taken : 7-8 hrs drive

On the first day of trek, you will drive to Raithal from Dehradun, the base camp of Dayara Bugyal trek. It takes 9 to 10 hrs drive from Dehradun to Raithal, where in between you witness many picturesque views. The drive takes you through the lovely forests, and you are going to trek alongside the Bhagirathi River. You will come across the highest town while driving to Raithal that is Uttarkashi, head to Batwari from there. As you trek to Raithal, witness brilliant colors of sunset over Mt. Jaonli & Draupadi ka Danda Peak.

Day 2: Raithal to Gui
Altitude : 7,096 Ft. to 9,750 Ft.

Time Taken : 4-5 hrs

Trek Gradient : Easy-moderate.

Water Sources : Carry 2 liters of water

NOW! All SET TO TREK?

On your 2nd day of trek, you head towards Gui from Raithal, witness the Mt. Srikhanth & Gangotri. The trail ascends gradually, that takes you through the valley of fields. As you walk for about half an hour you witness the flat grassy way. And the trail later become woody. You can take the forest route mainly of green and brown oaks & Rhododendrons. The campsite of Gui is located in the forest amidst the nature.

Day 3: Gui to Barnala
Altitude : 9,750 Ft. to 9,842 Ft.

Trek Time : 3-3.5 hrs

Trek Gradient : Easy-moderate

Water Sources : Carry 2 liters of water

Day 4 : Barnala to Dayara Top to Chilapada
Altitude : 9,842 Ft. to 12,057 Ft. to 10,500 Ft.

Time Taken : 5-6 hrs .

Trek Gradient : Moderate

Water Sources : Carry sufficient water

The trail to Dayara climbs up from Barnala camp to the upper Barnala meadow which houses the Barnala Taal. Move on the ascending trail which is well paved all the way. An hour into the climb, the tree line ends bringing you into the fringes of the meadows. The trail goes right on the edge of the meadow. Look up to your right to see magnificent view of Bandar Poonch and Kala Nag.

All the summits which were with you from Raithal and Barnala are now a lot bigger adorning the panorama behind. The early morning view of Dayara Bugyal is worth every effort put in to get there. In winter, you see snow terrain. The trail to Chilapada goes down behind the huts. The wooded trail is well laid out again. About 30 minutes of descent brings you to Chilapada.

Day 5 : Chilapada to Raithal
Time Taken : 4 hrs.

Trek Gradient : Easy

Water Sources : Carry 2 liters of water

On this day it takes around 4 hours to reach Raithal, so start your days early. From the Chilapada campsite, continue on the main trail. The trail continues to descend, around 15 min of descent brings you to the rain shelter from where you diverted to Barnala on the way up. Continue moving down on the main trail. Around Gui is where you get the final views of Mt Bandarpoonch on the trek. Continue further for an hour before coming to the grassy clearing with the water source. Later you reach Raithal.

Day 6 : Raithal to Dehradun
On this day drive to dehradun from Raithal after breakfast. Enjoy the scenic drive back to Dehradun.
