School of Communication Students Kept the Audience Spellbound

GD Goenka University is keen to train students in the art of acting. As part of this, five-day workshop was organized in collaboration with Moonlight Productions for the students of School of Communication. Theatre artists Imran Zahid and Gaurav Govind trained the students for five days and at the end of the workshop the students got an opportunity to perform on the stage in front of faculty, colleague students and artists from Asmita Theatre Group. The captivating performance of the students after a short training of five days compelled the audience to sit spellbound. On the occasion, the Asmita Theatre Group presented a heart-rending street play 'Dastak' under the direction of Mr Arvind Gaur. The street play highlighted the violence and harassment that take place against women at workplace, public places and home. The play highlighted the vulnerability of girl students. Such harassments are rampant in public transports and market places. The play was a commendable attempt to create awareness among students through Nukkad Natak. The students of School of Communication of GD Goenka University got a good acting lesson from this outstanding performance. The Deans of School of Communication, School of Fashion Design, School of Education and Dean Student Welfare greeted the students. Professor Debashis Chakrabarti giving a thanks note highlighted the importance of acting and said that the GD Goenka University will soon launch the School of Acting.
