A continuous ink supply system is a bespoke solution for the inkjet printer users who print in bulk. The need for replacing ink cartridges is a major headache for them. It is exasperating and expensive, both at the same time. A continuous ink system can successfully eliminate the need for replacing cartridges after regular and short intervals, meaning no more cartridges. However, as happens with every machine, these ink systems can sometimes require simple maintenance. People who have these machines at home or office, generally tend to contact rihac, the manufacturer, or the nearest printer inklink service center. But some problems can be fixed at home and people who have little or no knowledge about computer hardware and peripherals can execute the troubleshooting. Let’s see how.

White lines in printouts
This is an indication of air in a cartridge or a minor blockage of the print heads. If a simple head clean does not resolve the problem remove the continuous ink system. Then use a syringe to draw out the air from the bottom of the cartridge. Perform this carefully and slowly. Now print a document.

Tubing is stuck
It is a simple problem with bulk ink systems. You need to reset and fine-tune the tubing. The tubing joins the ink cartridge with the ink tanks. Therefore, if the tubing becomes tangled it is a sign that you have the tubing too slack. Simply tighten the tubing so it is not slack when the carriage moves to the left and right. If the tubing is too long or too short, the problem might come about.

Printer not printing
The top of the Inklink has two silicone plugs. The smaller plug should be removed and the air filter installed otherwise no ink will flow. You must have the smaller plug removed to enable the system to operate. Now print a document for testing.

Printer runs out of ink
Simply bring the cartridges to the change position and then press and hold the Inklink chip reset button for 5 seconds. This will reset the chips to indicate full. So no need to remove or replace the cartridges.

These smaller problems can be easily fixed by laypeople. However, you should always be familiar with the operation of your system by reading the installation manual fully. Most calls received by the rihac technicians can be simply resolved and are covered in the installation manual. If your inkjet printer and the continuous ink system are not within the warranty period, you will find that rihac are still happy to help out with technical support but of course you can try troubleshooting the simple problems on your own by reading the manual.
