Tom Rochtus recently published a 3rd edition of his best-seller “Case Interview Success”; a book on how to get a job at a top consulting firm likes McKinsey, Bain or BCG. The book is a must-read for anyone applying for a (management) consulting position. It takes you inside a typical consulting case interview by exploring in detail the entire case interview process, and will leverage you to crack the most complex business cases.

As described on Amazon; the main features of the book are:

· A detailed discussion of the entire case interview process

· Key business case frameworks with practice cases and solutions

· Key strategies to crack presentation cases, guesstimates and brainteasers

· An overview of key business concepts and consulting terms

I would argue that the biggestadvantages of Case Interview Success over other similar books are the high quality and the number of different practice business cases, along with the intelligent frameworks to crack the business cases. The book contains more than twenty practice cases, and they are definitely better than any of the business cases I have studied in other books. Another USP that this book has is its Chapter Two in which the author explains his so called ‘Interview Progression Model’. This model really gives you a realistic feel of what it is like to be on a case interview, and really focuses on all the behavioral aspects you should also focus on. This perspective I have found very unique versus other books in this genre.

In conclusion:I found Case Interview Success to be a good-enough book to perfectly prepare for your case interviews. On the other hand, I do think that if you really want to optimize your chances of getting an offer; then you could best read as many as possible good resources, a perfect complement could thenbe “Case Interview Secrets”, which has recently been written by Victor Cheng.Another well-known book on the topic of acing case interviews is “Case in Point” written by Marc Cosentino. Studying and practicing (!) these three books all together should get you in a good position for acing those case interviews.
