Breast size can be a sensitive topic for a lot of women because it affects the way that clothes fit, the way that they view themselves and the way that men view them as well. A few women would rather have smaller chests than they do, but plastic surgery trends suggest that the majority would rather be larger than nature made them. If you are considering a breast implant, you need to be well-informed about the different implant materials, the procedure, the cost and the doctors who will be taking care of you.

Breast implants are usually made of two different materials: silicone and saline. According to the FDA, saline implants are slightly safer. After all, the salt and water solution inside of them has no adverse effects on the body in the event of a rupture. No matter which material you choose, it is also important to find the right size. Personal preference obviously plays a part in the size of your implants, but physical balance also needs to be taken into account. With his or her experience, the doctor will probably have some good recommendations on which sizes would be appropriate.

During the procedure, an incision is made one of four places: between the breasts, under the breasts, in the armpit or through the navel. Saline implants allow the doctor to make smaller incisions than silicone implants. The operation usually only takes one or two hours and many patients can start light exercise, like walking, a few days after the surgery. It could take as long as a month to work back up to contact sports and weight lifting though.

As far as price goes, it will always vary depending on the doctor you choose and the facility you visit for the procedure but in general, some states are much more affordable than others. For example, plastic surgery in one state costs less than plastic surgery in other, depending on a lot of factors affecting to carry the procedure out.

When you choose a doctor, the first things you should look for are their education and their experience. Are they board certified? Have they performed the same surgery often or occasionally? After all, some doctor's specialize in certain procedures. You also want to be comfortable with them, so personality might even play a minor role in your choice. Hopefully, these are some of the tried and tested guidelines that can help you find the right material, size, doctor and facility for your own breast implants. So if you’re planning on getting the breast implants/augmentation anytime sooner, just keep the above discussed points in mind and you can keep yourself on the safer side on your journey through the procedure.
