My Electric Knife Sharpener is a blog that provides detailed reviews of various knife sharpening systems. Our goal is to help you find the right sharpener so blunt knives are a thing of the past!
The One Tool To Have Passed The Test Of Time!
Knives: every household has one. Ask a caveman and they'll tell you how we'd probably be extinct without one. Ask a professional chef and they'll tell you how a knife is the key that helps unleash their creations. Whoever you ask and whatever they say, one thing remains true:
We've been dependent on knives for over thousands of years. Be that in the kitchen, to hunt or survive, whatever it is, knives are the one tool to have stood the test of time!
So we agree that knives have been in our lives forever, right? If you don't believe me, take a walk to your kitchen and prepare yourself a sandwich. What do you find yourself reaching for? There you go!
Doesn't it not make sense to then care for and maintain the one tool that has been so useful to us?
A Dull Knife Is So Much More Than Just Frustration!
It's 5 PM and you're on your way home from work. The kids just got home and will be ready for supper soon. As you sit in your car waiting for the seemingly never ending traffic light to turn green, you ponder for a moment. "Dinner. There is no dinner."
Then you start to freak out: "Can't order takeout cause we just did that 2 days ago!" Stressed and agitated you head over to the closest grocery store to get the ingredients for a chicken pasta you're hoping to prepare tonight.
Fast forward an hour and you start getting down to work. Time to get those tomatoes diced and those onions sliced. Gonna need a knife for that, so you grab your trusted tool to get the job done. Dice, dice, dice, slice, slice, slice. The further you go, the more your knife starts to rebel.
A silent sigh quickly turns into some vulgarity. Next thing you know your wrists are sore, and just as you think it couldn't get any worse....BAM!
A nice deep gash on your finger! Chicken pasta? More like bloody pasta!
Truth is we've all been the person above. Dull knives suck and contrary to common belief, a dull knife can and will injure you!
Is Sharpening The Answer To My Problem?
Sharpening your knife is definitely a right step that's for sure, but it's not the only step (more on this later). "Well i'm not good with my hands, so I won't bother sharpening my knives" said a stubborn, lazy person I once knew. Don't be this person!
Invest in a sharpener!
There's 3 types to choose from: electric, pull through, and sharpening stone. There's zero learning with electrics and pull throughs, so you don't have to be good "with your hands". If you're interested in taking it up a notch, invest in some good sharpening stones (Japanese water stones are a great go to!). These days information is available at your fingertips at no cost. Anyone can learn anything online by watching a couple YouTube videos!
Sharpening, Stropping, & Honing: The Remedy To Dull Knives!
If you really want to keep your knives in pristine condition so that kitchen prep is a breeze, you need to not only sharpen, but also frequently strop and hone. If you do these 3 things, dull knives will be a far and distant memory!
