Posted October 10, 2021 by Shazeen

The biggest cybersecurity event will be held on 12th October and you can be part of this journey at the Auditorium of Millennium Point or live-stream from the comfort of your home anywhere in the world.

The biggest cyber awareness event in the West Midlands region, Cyber Tuesday, will be held on the 12th of October at the Millennium Point Auditorium, with over 250 guests.  Not only can you attend the event at the beautiful auditorium, but you can watch it live-stream from the comfort of your home anywhere in the world. Cyber Tuesday aims to have a positive impact on businesses by educating them about the risks associated with cyber security and protecting them from failure.

The event is organized in association with Birmingham Tech Week, the city’s most iconic technology occasion, and it will deliver a powerful event relevant to the region that you should not miss out on and take full advantage of.

Using industry experts, academics, and government representatives, our impressive line-up of national and international speakers strives to inform, educate, and connect businesses and communities to build better solutions at affordable prices.

Anyone, including MDs, CEOs, and decision makers seeking practical solutions to cybersecurity concerns, is welcome to participate in Cyber Tuesday, which includes an exhibition, networking opportunities, a work area, as well as refreshments.

Why Cyber Tuesday And Why Now?

Nearly half of small and midsize businesses that suffer a data breach go out of business within 6 months, and yet many do not take cybersecurity seriously. Do you think you might be one of them? There is no reason why businesses can’t afford cybersecurity, but some are more budget-conscious about cybersecurity than others.

According to Cyber Risk Score, cybersecurity should be a top concern for businesses because they are at risk of becoming victims of cyberattacks. We aim to meet the needs of the business, rather than thinking a one-size-fits-all approach is ideal. We believe that every business owes it to itself be protected in an affordable way. In a world where the digital economy plays a crucial role in global competitiveness, more protection means more organizational success.

This is why it’s important for business owners to properly protect their business, people, and data from cybercriminals, even if that means to obtain frequent security awareness training.

In a nutshell, cybersecurity doesn’t have to be expensive!

A Glimpse Of Speakers

Let’s look at who some of the speakers are, starting with Dr Mahmood Shah, who will evaluate the cybersecurity readiness of e-tailers. Do you or someone you know do electronic retailing, either business-to-business or business-to-consumer? You won’t want to miss Mahmood’s reflections on the topic then!

We’re also joined by Rachael Percival who explains how privacy and business go hand in hand by describing how Personally Identifiable Information can either grow or sink your business. This is an event you cannot miss; after all, throughout her career, she has specialized in security and intelligence. She was also the first woman to pass the ‘Woman in Cyber Academy’.

Alistair Speare-Cole is the owner of QOMPL, and he will grace the big screen with his presentation on Cyber Insurance and Risk Management. He directs the company’s next-generation insurance decision platform, which uses a wide range of data and advanced analytics to provide sophisticated risk and portfolio management solutions.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, did you know Alison Hurst who has been in policing for a long time is likewise the head of West Midlands Cyber Resilience Center at West Midlands Police? She’s totally at the forefront of cybercrimes and how law enforcement respond to these occurrences, and she will bring her insights on the big screen on 12th October.

As for those of you who wonder what’s even more cool about investing in cybersecurity, then Hugo Russell is your man. He’s a Cyber Security and Innovation specialist and works as a Digital Projects Manager at the University of Wolverhampton. He will zero you in on how you can use cybersecurity for the growth of your business. This will cover how to monitor your supply chain, customers, and competitors for growth and opportunities. Who knows what ideas you might walk out feeling inspired by?

Joseph MacMillan is the bestselling author of “InfoSec Strategies and Best Practices” and will deliver his presentation on Cyber Tuesday from Amsterdam, offering a holistic approach to information security. He believes that security is more important than ever before, but as we move toward a more digital world, and the natural world becomes more and more intertwined with technology, our society’s structures are going to present an unprecedented attack surface for exploitation and outages. Due to this, it’s increasingly important for everyone, not just specialists, to understand how to reduce their information security risks.

Amongst other speakers include Richard Fallon, CMO of Cyber Risk Score, who will describe the much-desired tool for evaluating the safety your organization’s assets and where it needs to improve; Junaid Arshad, Associate Professor at Birmingham City University, who will speak on the topic of “Emerging Threat Vectors and Cyber Hygiene”; Stuart Peter’s presentation will take us back to the basics of what companies need to be doing to ensure cyber safety; and Amar Singh, Cyber Crisis and Incident Response Practitioner, will bring his motivational speaking flair on the stage as he shows CEOs and executives how to survive and thrive in cyber-space.

This list of speakers only scratches the surface of what Cyber Tuesday will offer, and we have many, many more speakers from across the country and internationally. You can attend and watch them from the auditorium itself or plug in and watch livestream from anywhere in the world. Don't miss out! Stake your claim today by registering on the following link:
