This week’s jewelry news…New York City is a frenzy of well-dressed fashion editors, reporters, photographers, bloggers, buyers, designers, supermodels, and celebrities. They’re all in town to attend the Spring/Summer 2015 Ready-to-Wear Collections during New York Fashion Week (September 4 through 11). While the official home of Mercedes-Benz Cheap Cartier Necklace Fashion Week is Lincoln Center, much of the action has migrated south, with many designers presenting in Chelsea, SoHo, Tribeca, and the Meatpacking District.

California-born jewelry designer Jennifer Fisher started her business nearly a decade ago after designing a dog tag with her son’s name on it. She has since acquired legions of fans, including a celebrity following. Fisher, who now lives in Tribeca, has opened her first NYC store in the Flatiron district. You’ll find gold bracelet charms ranging from astrological signs that start at $250 to a gold tusk with pavé diamonds for $7,000. Her brass knot chokers for $495 hit the perfect note with many of this season’s minimalist looks.

French jewelry sensation Aurelie Bidermann just opened her first freestanding U.S. boutique in New York, a city she refers to as her “second home.” She told The New York Times that the Lafayette Street store in SoHo was inspired by New York and Los Angeles in the ’60s and ’70s (although its perky blue-and-white awnings look curiously French to us). Bidermann’s collection includes a series of exclusive scarab-themed pieces accented with lapis lazuli.
“The blue felt very New York to me,” said Aurelie.

Best Collaboration. Congratulations to Pandora for making jewelry news at New York Fashion Week. Pandora was not only the official jewelry sponsor of Fashion Week, it partnered with superstar designer Vivienne Tam. She added the finishing touches to her September 7 Spring 2015 runway collection with jewelry selections from the popular Pandora brand.

Best Trend. “Stripes with everything” was a major trend across many designers’ collections. While there is nothing really new about stripes, it is a tribute to the talent of the participating Ready-to-Wear designers that they managed to work simple stripes in so many new directions. Will springtime jewelry follow suit? Judging from DKNY’s striped chokers, the answer is yes.
Runner-Up Trend.Cartier Necklace Knockoff Gingham is one of those spring-summer staples that can sometimes look cloying, but not in the hands of Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, and their ilk. Gingham checks in pastel colors, black-and-white, and varied sizes dominated runways all week. How to translate the check craze into your jewelry wardrobe? Don’t even try. Oscar showed his beautiful ginghams with simple gold cuffs – you can too.

Best Inspiration. Carolina Herrera’s oversized tulip motif stole the show…maybe even the week. Everything about the 76-year-old designer’s Spring 2015 runway collection is elegant and ladylike — yet youthful. I fell in love with her “shattered floral” strapless number, reminiscent of Chanel’s couture camellia necklace. Expect floral jewelry in abundance at stores this spring…and all through the seasons ahead.
