Readers can’t seem to get enough of stories set in the grim dark world of a post apocalyptic zombie invasion.

Massey’s zombie novels are set in area, and the Texas Hill Country he's called home for over twenty years. He describes his novels as “twisted, Southern-fried dystopian fiction ” and likens his writing style to that of pulp fiction horror and sci-fi writers of yore.


“Authors like Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Lester Dent recognized what their audiences wanted,” says Massey. They weren’t trying to write great literary fiction or the next great American novel. And that’s what I try to do with my books more ”


Since releasing the first three novels in his paranormal zombie apocalypse series Massey’s first novel in the show has reached bestseller status several times around. Similarly, the other novels in his series receive a substantial airlift in the success of his first novel, as readers will probably purchase another book to discover what happens to the characters. Many of his readers consider his books some of the best zombie novels in the genre.


It ’s not like I’m giving these books cliff hanger endings or anything. It’s just the readers really get to know the characters and they would like to learn what happens next. Zombie novels that are great are literary wisecrack, in a sense. I 've readers who will plow through all four novels, and then they e-mail me to ask when another novel is coming out.”


His fifth book is being released by Massey sometime this autumn, and now has seven novels planned in his zombie apocalypse novel series. But, he’s not writing his characters away just yet.


I’ll keep writing them, “As long as my readers need more stories with these characters. I might end up composing dozens of novels in this universe. Frankly, they much fun to write that it'dn’t bother me one bit.”
