Mount Meru Trekking- Discover The Significance

Posted August 8, 2017 by zanzibartours

Mount Meru Trekking starts from Momella Gate and continue through Montane forest while giving you to view some game viewing.

Why go for Mount Meru Trekking when you can go for highest and famous mountains all over the world? Well, Mount Meru is a huge sacred golden mountain with multi-dimensional existence:

• Connection to the stars
• Connection to the center of the earth
• Residence of supreme gods

Sounds too farfetched, isn’t it? Could a real mountain be high enough to trigger people’s imagination by exaggerating its height or can it be a form of energy emanating from a place that could extend throughout in a golden color? Mount Meru may not be highest mountain, but it is used as warm up for altitude adjustment since the technical requirements are greater on Mount Meru.

The Mt Meru has many different vegetation zones all the way up. The dry forest in the bottom becomes a dense mountain rainforest to scrubland. As you get closer to the summit, vegetation becomes less and less and gives way to alpine terrain. Mount Meru Trekking also show a large wildlife during its ascent such as giraffes, buffaloes, baboons, colobus monkeys and antelopes. Be safe and accompany yourself with an armed park ranger. Mount Meru is ranked fifth highest in Africa and the only isolated stratovolcano in East Africa that is still active. You can view the idyllic crater rim of the summit along the way.

Mount Meru Trekking starts from Momella Gate and continue through Montane forest while giving you to view some game viewing. After getting closer to the Meru’s towering cliffs take the rest of the day off trekking and enjoy Miriakamba Huts and afternoon sun all over. Start early next day through the steep crater rim “Elephant Ridge” to the heather in Moorland near Saddle Hut between Little Meru and Meru. Take in the views of the eye opening views of Little Meru and its breathtaking sunsets. The early start to climb Rhino Point next day to get the spectacular view of sunrise near Cobra Point is worth the trouble. Hike to the top and cut off the trekking adventure off your bucket list or plan for more. Descend all the way to Momella Gate or stop for a night in Miriakamba Huts along the way.
