LightsBackOn, a Grassroots Nonprofit Initiative is Seeking Donations
Low-Income Georgian Residents to benefit from utility assistance and short-term housing.

NORCROSS, GEORGIA – Today, Lights Back On Inc. has launched its nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to offering low-income earners in Georgia, easy access to utility assistance and short-term housing. The program takes into cognizance, the struggles low-income Georgians face with energy bills and housing during winter and summer seasons.

As such, Lights Back On Inc. offers two major nonprofit initiatives. First, its utility assistance program will offset the energy bills of low-income Georgians during winter season and again in the summer. Second, the remaining funds will be allocated to its short-term housing program which will provide emergency housing to impoverished residents in need of a temporary place to stay.

Presently, the organization is soliciting support and donations from the general public in a bid to push forward its plans to alleviate the local communities in Georgia. It is the goal of the founders, Countess Young and George Young, to raise approximately (AMOUNT), which will be shared evenly between the utility assistance and short-term housing program.

“The idea came to me after seeing we had to spend a year without heat during the winter storm with our newborn daughter. I thought to myself, we must keep her warm and make things seem better than what they are,” says Countess Young, President at Lights Back On.

“No one should have to live without heat or air conditioning due to affordability. Also, outages must be addressed immediately with resources readily available,” says George Young, Cofounder/Vice President at Lights Back On.

These are hard times for many citizens in the United States, especially for low-income earners in Georgia. By soliciting support from the general public and raising funds through donations, grants, sponsorships and events, Lights Back On Inc. hopes to provide utility vouchers and housing programs, available on a first-come-first-serve basis, to over 10,000 Georgian residents.

These initiatives include:
• Electricity vouchers for winter and summer seasons to low-income families and individuals worth $200 to $500. (available throughout the year)
• Vouchers that cover cooling bill and other cooling air resources such as fans, A/C units and/or cooling systems (available once a year, during summer seasons)
• Vouchers that cover heating bill including electric, gas or propane heating (available once a year during winter months)
• Short-Term Housing Assistance to families during natural disasters and emergency situations that covers a duration of 1 month hotel stay, rent or mortgage (available twice a year during summer and winter months).
