FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEHouston (25th July 2016) - Since 2005, Kusum Sharma's Shri Natraj School of Dance has been celebrating the auspicious occasion of RAMLEELA in Houston and since 2013, in association with Kalakriti Performing Arts.  Ramleela Houston for this year is scheduled to be held on October 9th 2016 at the VPSS Haveli.  As per the Indian Epic Ramayana Lord Rama killed the demon-king of ancient Lanka, Ravan on the 10th Day of the Autumn Full Moon. This day is celebrated as Dusshera among Indians, which is marked as the day for the victory of the good over the evil. Indians have been celebrating this day for a few thousand years as a personification of the victory of good. They have a tradition to organize dance drama that is themed on the struggle between Rama and Ravana. The purpose of this celebration is to pay homage to Lord Rama, the protagonist and the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu as well as to celebrate the victory of ethics & values over demonism.  With Indians being one of the largest communities of immigrants to the US, several Indian religious and cultural festivals get celebrated on the US soil. Shri Natraj School of Dance and Kalakriti Performing Arts has joined hands to organize the RAMLEELA function in Houston for past few years. The show has been widely recognized  and has gone popular among the Indian and other communities, residing in Houston and the surrounding region. Organizers are confident that the show for this year will meet grand success just like the outcome of the previous years. “The objective behind organizing this show is to give the immigrant-Indians an opportunity to recall the auspicious memories of their days in India. Aside, this show will let the children know about their roots. We are steadily going through the preparation stages and look forward to another successful Ramleela” said the director of the show Ms. Kusum Sharma. About RAMLEELA Houston RAMLEELA Houston is a broadway style 2.5 hour show themed around the life of Lord Rama and demon King Ravana, the show is known for it’s creativity and special effects.
