He started working there after he married his high school sweetheart, and the couple settled back into San Antonio. Gholson grew up in San Antonio, leading tours of the Alamo in high school. After high school, he restored a 1964 Camaro and asked his high school girlfriend to run away with him. They drove around the country, eventually ending up in South Dakota, where Gholson worked in the energy industry there. They decided to return to San Antonio to get married and start a family. Gholson got a job at a local auto parts store, and they lived happily in town.

William Gholson has always been fascinated by cars and engines. He has restored and fixed up many cars for friends and neighbors in his community and worked well at the auto parts store. His passion for cars comes from his father, who taught him how to work on cars when he was six.

Gholson quickly made himself invaluable to the store after only a few months on the job.
