A Beginner’s Guide to Slurry And Dredge Service

This is how the slurry and dredge service works. Hope this article has helped you understand the process in detail.

Industrial non-clog slurry pumps are meant to dredge, process pumping applications and these are highly viscous or abrasive material, sludge, muck, paste, high solids, and abrasive applications.

Industrial non-clog slurry pumps are engineered for dredging, process pumping applications, highly viscous or abrasive material, sludge, muck, paste, high solids, and abrasive applications. Dredging can recover resources from the bottom of a sea, river, lake, or any other body of water having depth and presence of moving water. Dredging can be performed by dredge cutters and dredging vacuum equipment.

Dredge Dewatering is the method that occurs after dredging, where the sediment is removed from underwater land.
Dewatering can occur in these ways:

Drying Dredged Material (DMD)
Dense Media Separation (DMS)
Dredge Dewatering

A dirty liquid that's often referred to as “dewatering slurry’” is a common byproduct of water recovery. There are many forms of this substance including mud and sand - but all you have left after it dries out are some tiny particles.

Drying Dredged Material is the most commonly used way to dewater dredge material. For this process, metal carriers are used and this acts like a sponge, with water (dewatering slurry) in its pores.

DMD works through heat and air - burners are required to heat DMD carriers, which draw water inside the carrier into the air stream. With heating, DMD's process causes the liquid to convert into steam. After this steam reaches dryers (inside DMD) additional water is removed through condensation.

Dredge dewatering can extract water from dried material after dredging. This process is an integral part of dewatering because it has a high overall cost of all processes (DMD and DMS).

Dredge Dewatering happens right after Dense Media Separation (DMS) or another technique of dry solids separation. This process generally uses decanter centrifuges - decanter centrifuges separate dewatered materials as it applies what's known as “the sedimentation principle.”
