New Delhi, 18 February 2014- Large number of cases related to eye surgeries are daily registered in the Indian hospitals. In the last few years, they are incrementing in a large number to a very high extent. Not only adults, children are also among the list of sufferers. Records states that around 65% of cases which are registered, are of children that are suffering from acute eye problems.

Recent news states that High Commission of India has conducted a free ‘Eye Camp’ providing free consultation and services for more than 500 people named as Maldives ‘Dosti-Ekuverikan’ friendship week that is organized between 20 to 26 January. The camp was inaugurated by Indian High Commissioner Rajeev Shahare at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital on 24 January.

Some of the cultural activities like food, music and film festivals and a National Art Competition are also organised for the school children. The children were participated in the ceremony. Sources states that free spectacles are distributed by the ophthalmic team. The camp sustained for three days in which eye surgeons and doctors examined the patients and suggested them cure for their individual eye issues.

Dr Arun Singhvi, M.D., Dr Shashank Gang are the two ophthalmic surgeons from ASG Eye Hospitals that attended the camp. M.D. and a senior ophthalmologist Dr Kundan Kumar Singh that are trained from the AIIMS and Dr Singhvi and Dr Shashank are LASIK surgeons also attended the eye camp.
