SEO has become more and more complicated over the years. As Google evolves, so do SEO techniques. Guest posting is something that is a more recent SEO technique. What does it do for your site, and how exactly does it work?

First of all, if you post on another person’s site, it makes them aware of who you are. They’ll be interested – ‘Wow, this is really helpful. Do you have any more information about this?’ – and so will their own visitors. Basically, you’re riding off of another person’s fame. IF someone has a popular blog, then you can post on their blog, and everyone who’s interested in their blog will now also be interested in your blog. As every SEO consultant and expert knows, SEO in of itself isn’t very important. For example, if you rank for the phrase ‘the alphabet soup number song’ you really aren’t going anywhere. The whole point of doing SEO is to get visitors. And getting visitors can help SEO! This is one of the biggest reasons to guest post.

Say you have a popular blog. Maybe you talk about how to do internet marketing. If you guest post on someone else’s blog, that talks about, maybe, ‘the benefits of having your site ranked number one’, then you’re gaining a different audience. For example, someone really likes your friend’s site. They understand why it’d be awesome to have a number one ranked site. Then you come along and post on your friend’s site, and they’re suddenly interested in you. So basically, you’re gaining a different audience. That person didn’t originally want to know how to do internet marketing, even though my example kind of set that up. Like if your site is about ‘dog grooming’, you can post on another person’s site that’s about ‘pet care.’ You’re talking to a different audience, but one that will still be interested in your own topic. Someone who searches up ‘pet care’ would probably never come to your site, if it weren’t for your guest post.

When you guest post on other’s sites, Google recognizes that. As opposed to spamming a hundred blogs with links, you’re building an organic, quality link, and that’s more important nowadays. With Google evolving, you want to be as natural as is possible. So when you do stuff like this, when you build natural links and you’re actually increasing the quality of your site, you’re going to be safer from upcoming updates. Guest posting is probably something that will work better and better as time goes on. Google will give you ‘authority’, and it won’t associate you with the many black hat people out there. You want to use white hat SEO – not only because it’s better for the people around you, but it will keep you safer the next time Google figures out how to get rid of a huge black hat technique. So, in conclusion, guest posting is an awesome SEO internet marketing technique that you should use.
