The story I’m gonna share with you today was told to me by a friend of mine. She and her best friend created an app and according to her, and they are making around $150 a month from it. So, I thought it is worthy of sharing and nobody knows it might even prove to be beneficial for you. I’ve kept it in direct speech so that you don’t lose the original flavor of the story. It was my last year of college. Only one semester was left and I had literally no idea what to do next. I always used to think very independently, never wanted to go for a 9-5 job and Thank Heavens, that I was blessed with the gift of having a developer as my best friend. So an idea came to his mind that we could develop an app and earn through it. Initially, I thought that we should create a paid app to earn good money from it but also a thought came to my mind soon after that, that who is gonna buy my app when I myself have never bought any!

Well, it means I could make it happen till the end of my college life only with free apps. And it’s quite impossible that all the developers of those apps developed them for social services instead of earning any money. Then I came across a blog where I found that in reality, free apps make much more money than the paid ones.

Thank God, once again that soon after that I came to know how free apps make money. Here, I’ll share with you some techniques about how free apps can generate revenue.

By Placing Advertisement- Advertisements help a lot to monetize a free app. There are many kinds of advertisements that can be used for app monetization. The efficient usage of advertisements helps publishers to make a great deal of money.

Adding Subscription Policy- Placing subscription policy to your app helps you generate revenue without any third-party intervention. Subscription policy may include cloud services, audio, and video streaming.

In-app purchases- After placing initial free services users can be asked to purchase in-app features like extra lives in a game.

Through Sponsorships- You can get sponsors to monetize your app in return of promoting their websites in your app.

Email marketing- Email marketing can be a very effective way to earn money for free apps as approx 70% of internet users between 18-50 years prefer companies to communicate with them via emails. You can connect with users informing them about changes in your app by sending them emails
