Madrid, Spain, June 18, 2013 - Supported by ICEX and film-making bodies, this is one of the most important events for promoting Spanish cinema around the world.

The eighth edition of Madrid de Cine is running from yesterday until 19 June in the Spanish capital. This is the leading international promotional event for Spanish cinema. It has a dual objective, to boost sales of Spanish films outside the country and attract specialist global media coverage about new Spanish film-making developments.

Madrid de Cine, which is headed by the Spanish actor José Coronado, brings together 400 professionals from the industry, including sales agents, producers, directors, actors and journalists from 35 media outlets all over the world, as well as 69 buyers from 29 countries.

These participants will be able to watch 39 feature films, of which 14 are receiving their first international showing and nine are having their world premiere: "Presentimientos", "2 francos, 40 pesetas", "Mapa emocional de Tánger", "The Extraordinary Tale (of the times table)", "New York Shadows", "The return of Elías Urquijo", "Jorge’s Pearl", "Amor colateral" and "Bull running in Pamplona".

Madrid de Cine shows “the commitment to promoting Spanish cinema abroad, which has an important knock-on effect on other sectors”, according to Maria del Coriseo González-Izquierdo, CEO of ICEX.
