Madrid, Spain, June 13, 2013 - The Indian city of Jodhpur will be hosting the first international edition of this festival in 2014.

The Cante de las Minas flamenco festival is working to internationalise and become one of the leading features of the Marca España. The Indian city of Jodhpur has already been chosen as the venue for the first international edition of the festival in March 2014, and now Japan wants to be the next country to host the event.

The Ambassador of Japan in Spain, Satoru Satoh, has already expressed this wish to the Mayor of La Unión and Executive President of the Cante de las Minas Foundation, Francisco Bernabé. Negotiations with the Japan Flamenco Association (ANIF) and various Japanese public and private institutions that will be involved in the project are also already at a very advanced stage.

The Executive Committee of the Cante de las Minas Foundation believes this internationalisation will be very positive and is firmly committed to it. According to the City Council of La Unión, this festival will become “one of the greatest icons of the Marca España abroad as well as a magnificent ambassador for the potential and attractions of the Murcia Region”
