The story behind UK Health Radio by Johann Ilgenfritz and why UK Health Radio Launches Funding Camp

London, UK, April 08, 2014 - This is my story. After studying photography and working as a fashion photographer for 20 odd years the following happened:

At the age of 47, two and a half years after my youngest son was born, I had a heart attack on the tennis court and then a few months later I was diagnosed with cancer.
After spending some time in total disbelief, dismay, shock, sadness, a lot of anger, ….. and thousands of other emotions that I had never experienced before (lets just call it turmoil or perhaps chaos is a better word), I decided to fight my cancer and every one else's cancer as well.

My wife's first reaction to this was and I quote ".... like usual you always have to overdo everything but I shall help you as much as I can" Not sure what you think about that but I thought that was pretty awesome and she has and is helping every single day.

I am sure you are asking yourself the question, so why UK Health Radio and not a "fight cancer" only website or charity? Well, it took a while for me to realise that the best way to fight cancer is a lifestyle that prevents it, and if you have it, one that can actually kill it!

And why did this take a while?
There is a lot of information out there, I spent months searching only to realise that what I/we need is somewhere to bundle the information. Not a television or radio program here and there on one specific subject (or website for that matter) but a continues flow of scientific information and not only for the ill but for every one. A "real feel good radio" that not only informs but also entertains.

This was the first thing I wrote down concerning UK Health Radio.
"A station that you can listen to that will leave you feeling informed but not in despair."
By the way I have been cancer free for 147 :-)

Notes for Editors:

UK Health Radio, a UK-based Internet radio station that focuses principally on health and wellness programmes chiefly for health-conscious adults of all ages, as well as progressive healthcare professionals, announced the launch of its crowd funding campaign on IndieGoGo.com.

"We are seeking funding to the tune of £200,000 to cover our development expenses such as setting up the office and studio for live radio," said Johan Ilgenfritz, Managing Director of UK Health Radio Network.

The campaign, which runs till April 30, 2014, would receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. The money raised will be used to create new jobs and broadcast training or apprenticeship opportunities.

"Some of the money will go towards building up our team of experts and developing our broadcasting talents, and improve our research capabilities to give listeners/readers higher quality daily information," said Johann, who eagerly seeks to fulfill a global interest in the radio station.

Johann has also disclosed he's working with an enthusiastic group of people interested in using his model, including some of their content, to create health and radio stations in India, Australia and Africa.

"As an official media partner to a range of important health and wellness organisations, events and charities – ranging from the Medical Advisory Service to The Pharmacy Show – and around 100,000 followers on Twitter, we have laid the foundations for a wonderful opportunity to help people," said Station Director John Hicks, who already has his own talk radio show (The Health Kicks Show') syndicated to local radio stations worldwide.

As a relatively new Internet radio station, UK Health Radio is 100 per cent independently owned and the first of its kind outside the US. As the name suggests, it is UK-based and focuses primarily on health and wellness.

Besides catering to health professionals, the UK Health Radio mission is simply to inform, educate and entertain those who think and care about their health, those who wish to receive comprehensive information and people open-minded to new ideas.
