Beauty and wellness services company, VLCC, is intensifying its foray in Goan market. It is planning to expand its presence in Goa with more centres and a training institute, said its founder and vice chairperson, Vandana Luthra.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, she said that upcoming centres could be either franchise or company owned and the skill development institute will be located in Panjim. VLCC which is a Rs 1,000 crore company has applied for listing in the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

“The Goa market is very beauty conscious and is open to using the latest procedures to enhance appearance,” said Luthra. “Customers are using most recent procedures such as injectable.” Luthra added that, services relating to tackling obesity would be a focus area in future as 33 per cent of Goan women are classified as obese as per National Family Health Survey. “The VLCC brand enjoys a great affinity among locals,” she said.

VLCC founded in 1989 as a beauty and slimming services centre was incorporated as a company in 1996. It is a major player in the beauty and wellness services industry with operations in India and in 13 countries. In Goa, it has one company owned outlet in Panjim. “The company until now followed a conservative policy of growth but in future we are aiming for bigger market presence,” said Luthra. “Towards this we will be aggressively pursuing new opportunities to further growth. Major plans are on the anvil which includes new staff, new doctors and new physiotherapists to man the centres,” said Luthra.

VLCC has also partnered with the government to fulfill the demand of skilled manpower in the beauty and wellness industry. It aims to train 15,000 students to provide them with livelihood earning skills.
