A standard domestic solar water heater consists of a hot water storage tank and Solar Collector of either Flat Plate Type (FPC) or Evacuated Tube Type (ETC). The collectors are installed facing the sun – South direction to deduct solar distribution to come in.
Water is heated because of the high absorbent of solar collectors. Heated water is managed in the tank, which is insulated to inhibit heat loss. Circulation of water from the tank through the collectors and back to the tank extends automatically due to the mass difference between hot and cold water (thermosyphon effect).
