“Auto insurance for military veterans are similar to the traditional auto insurance that are being offered to the civilian with the only difference in the rate of interest and the flexibility in the repayment options."

Montreal, Quebec:- Veterans and the members who are still active on their military services are often entitled to discounts and privileges on their insurance needs. Auto insurance is one of those areas where the active military personnel and veterans could find the biggest discounts. Auto insurance for military veterans also generally consists of the 4 major components like any other traditional auto insurance:
• Liability
• Comprehensive/Collision
• Uninsured/underinsured motorist
• Personal Injury Protection and Medical Payments
The only difference for the veterans and military personnel for the auto insurance would be the discounted rate. Comparing the quotes offered by different auto insurance companies is the best way to find out the cheap veterans car insurance.
Active members who are deployed
If you are an active member of the armed forces and have been deployed to some location, you would have 5 options:
1. Continue paying the current auto insurance policy: This option turns out to be the most expensive options since you would ideally be paying for the services that you won’t use, and thus, probably not the perfect choice for most people. However, if your goal is to establish or repair your credit rating then you may opt for this option and continue paying for the car insurance for military veterans even when you are deployed. This tends to pay off in longer run.

2. Suspend your auto insurance: This option could save you a lot of money without even losing the relationship with your auto insurer but this might turn out to be complicated. If something happens to your vehicle while you are deployed and the policy is suspended, then you would be at the hook to bear all the expenses incurred.

3. Get Storage Auto insurance for military veterans: This proves to be the best option for majority of the people. This is similar to suspending your auto insurance policy, since it allows you to preserve your relationship with the auto insurer, but it differs slightly in that you would require paying a small premium amount for the comprehensive coverage of your car which would include, vandalism, fire and any other mishaps. To avail this policy, you may have to prove that your vehicle is going to be stored in a safe place and no one would be driving the vehicle.

4. Cancelling your auto insurance policy: If you cannot afford to continue paying your coverage premium, then you may consider cancelling the policy. This is usually not recommended as there would be a gap in your auto insurance and insurers don’t like seeing such gaps in the policies.

5. Excluding yourself from the policy: If you are not the only driver on the policy, then the best way is to exclude yourself from the policy.
