Criminal investigation involves the methods by which the crimes are studied and the criminals are apprehended. A criminal investigator works to ascertain the methods, motives as well as the identities of the criminals. It is the responsibility of the criminal investigation department to compile the data and has the access to the public records that include automobiles as well as private records.

Criminal investigation is indeed a troublesome and dangerous operation of police work. When a criminal offence happens, a police officer reaches the scene of the crime and gathers information. He then searches for the potential suspects. Thus, criminal investigation is the tool that is used by the law enforcement officials to help determine the unknown offender of a specific crime. It creates the profile containing the characteristics of the offender who committed certain crime, which is then used by the law enforcement to help determine the possible suspect. It is of significant use in case the law enforcement has no leads, thus using this tool to come up with a possible suspect.

Formerly being the part of Criminal Investigation Branch, Varun Naidu conducted drug and major crime investigations by making use of principles of major case management. Besides, he served in the role of primary investigator and file coordinator in files including marijuana grow operations, homicides and other violent offenses.

Pertaining to his education credentials, Varun graduated from the University of British Columbia with Bachelor of Education. Pertaining to the awards he has received, he won the Oliver Thompson Memorial Award at the Police Academy.

About Varun Naidu

Varun Naidu has been the inspector in charge of Operational Support Branch where he managed Traffic Section, Vulnerable Sector, Community Policing, Victim Services, Community Relations and School Liaison Units. It was his responsibility to ensure that the Operational Support Branch was adequately resourced and managed. In September 2017, Varun served in Inspector Strategic Services Branch where he conducted reviews and coordinated special projects for the Department. He also supervised the Emergency Management Section and the Victim Services Unit.
