Community policing involves the law enforcement strategy that enables the officers to continuously operate in the same area in order to create a stronger bond with the citizens living and working in that area. It also allows the officers to engage with the local residents and prevent crime from happening instead of responding to the incidents.

Indeed, an effective community policing provides more accurate information from the residents regarding criminal activity in the community. Besides, it involves the better understanding of the needs of the citizens and their expectations of the police. Indeed, community policing is an integral strategy for the cities that have looked to combat violence, drugs, and other criminal activities. The strategies related to the community policing reduce the perception of the individuals about disorderly conduct and increase the citizen satisfaction.

Managing Traffic Section, Vulnerable Sector, Community Policing, Victim Services, Community Relations, and School Liaison Units, Varun Naidu has been the inspector in charge of Operational Support Branch. He considered it his responsibility to ensure that the Operational Support Branch was adequately resourced and managed.

As the former watch commander in Delta Police Department, Varun Naidu supervised the patrol shift where he was responsible for a team of seventeen constables and two sergeants conducting patrol and uniform functions. Be it the investigative or administrative matter, he provided the field support and guidance, along with drafting and delivering performance evaluations.

Regarding his educational qualification, Varun graduated from the University of British Columbia with Bachelor of Education. Pertaining to the awards he has received, he won the Oliver Thompson Memorial Award at the Police Academy.

About Varun Naidu

Formerly being the part of Criminal Investigation Branch, Varun Naidu conducted drug and major crime investigations by making use of principles of major case management. Besides, he served in the role of primary investigator and file coordinator in files including marijuana grow operations, homicides and other violent offences. In September 2017, Varun served in Inspector Strategic Services Branch where he conducted reviews and coordinated special projects for the Department. He also supervised the Emergency Management Section and the Victim Services Unit.
